Anna C. Briggs was the founder of The National Humane Education Society (NHES) which is the BAAC’s parent organization. Mrs. Briggs spent her life focused on making the world a better place for animals. She welcomed all of us to join her in creating a more humane world: “Join me on this important journey by … taking whatever steps you can take on behalf of cats and dogs ….”
To honor her memory and to save more cats and dogs from neglect and abuse, 10 volunteers are seeking pledge support and will each hike 10.1 miles on the Appalachian Trail for a combined total of 101 miles—equal to Anna C. Briggs’ 101 years on this earth helping to create a more humane world for animals. The hike will take place on Sunday, November 7, 2021.
Thanks to our Board of Directors and one very kind donor, proceeds donated through this hike will be matched—up to $15,000!
We’d like to invite you join us in “taking thousands of steps” to save more animals—and you can do it at your own pace in a location of your choosing!
You can walk by yourself or with a team. You can also choose to fundraise on behalf of BAAC by asking for pledges for your hike. Or, if you would rather skip the hike, but would still like to help, you can make a donation here .
*for these hikes you will solicit pledges from others for your team or individual hike
*registration for the Virtual Walk is $20.
No matter which type of hike you choose, pick a time and a place convenient for you to hike during the week of November 1-8, 2021. Feel free to take photos and post your pictures on social media with the tag #memorialhike.
All participants will receive a commemorative window cling sticker.
For questions, please email email@example.com
All proceeds will benefit The Briggs Animal Adoption Center, a program of NHES, a 501(c)(3) organization.
On behalf of the animals, we thank you!
