For the safety of staff and the public, for all unvaccinated individuals, face masks are required when entering our facility. Vaccinated individuals may choose to not wear a mask at their own discretion.
If you are interested in an animal that you’ve seen on our website or in an ad, submit an adoption application online or come to Briggs during open hours and complete an application. An adoption counselor will update you on the status of the animal you are interested in.
If you submit an application online, one of our adoption counselors will contact you via email and/or telephone to go over the application with you, answer any questions you may have about the animal(s) and then schedule an appointment with you to visit. Please bear with us if we do not get back to you the same day you submit an application. We have limited staff and get inundated with applications, especially with puppies, kittens and small breed dogs. If you have not heard from us after 24 hours, give us a call at 304-724-6558 or send an email to adopt@baacs.org mentioning when you submitted an application.
All household occupants will need to come visit with the animal(s) they are interested in meeting. When there are very young children in the home, we require additional appointments/visits. If you are applying to adopt a dog and you already have a dog in your home, we will set up a second appointment so the dogs can meet in order for us all to view their interaction and compatibility.

If you call us at 304-724-6558, you may receive a voicemail message. If so, please leave a message with your name, email, telephone number and the name(s) of the animal(s) you are interested in meeting. An Adoption Counselor will return your call as soon as possible. We are not in the office on Monday and Tuesday so if you call after hours on Sunday or call on Monday or Tuesday, your call will not be returned until Wednesday. As mentioned above, you can also email the adoption department with any questions at adopt@baacs.org.
