FROZEN KONGS: Even though BAAC dogs go outside into the play yards twice a day, have small swimming pools in the summer to play in and love to be walked by volunteers as often as possible, while they’re waiting to become adopted into their own permanent, loving homes, they can still experience boredom. To spice up their routine and help alleviate the boredom, the BAAC is introducing frozen, stuffed kongs to the dogs. These provide a fun and rewarding challenge for them. In order to provide stuffed kongs on a regular basis, we need to call on volunteers for help. We are asking for the following: Freezer for storage of frozen-filled kongs KONGS! - Lots of them! Small, Medium, Large and XL (Medium & Large especially needed) Ingredients needed to fill kongs: Peanut Butter Cheese – Low fat Velveeta, spray cheese in a can and other cheeses. Small amounts can be melted, rubbed inside the kong and frozen (dogs spend a lot of time getting the last little bit!) Quality treats like milk bones, 3 dog bakery natural treats, liver treats Cheerios Honey Wheat Germ Cooked noodles, plain pasta Bread Bananas Croutons - plain And we need lots of volunteers willing to come to the BAAC to stuff kongs on a regular basis. If you are interested in volunteering on the Kong Committee, email Lindsay at volunteer@baacs.org or call and ask for her at 304-724-6558.
