BAAC Tour FAQ's
How far in advance should I make a request?
We encourage BAAC Tour requests to be made at least two weeks in advance. Tours typically must be scheduled during the center's open hours of operations.
How long is the tour and what does it include?
Tours average 45-60 minutes and include a walk through the dog kennel, cattery room, and veterinary room. For young children and students, tours usually commence with a visit from one our friendly BAAC dogs and may occasionally include a live educational puppetry show.
What education topics are covered during the tour?
Education topics include BAAC operations, basic animal needs and care, proper pet handling and approach, kindness and responsibility, and animal-related careers. Tour topics are flexible and can be accomodated to cover other areas of interest and help with goals such as scouts working towards their pet badge.
What age-levels are the tours offered to?
BAAC educational tours are available to children and adult groups. The tours are best suited for children entering 3rd grade and older; however, tours are available for PreK - 2nd grades.
What size audience can the tour accommodate?
Due to space and animal welfare considerations, we request tours to be no larger than 30 total children and adults.
We would like to donate animal items - what does the BAAC need?
Thank you! Please click here for the BAAC's Wish List.
We would like to volunteer while visiting the center - what opportunities are available?
Thank you for your interest! Individuals must be 18 years of age or older to volunteer at the BAAC. Please click here for more information. For individuals 17 years of age and under, we can suggest fun activities that can be completed in the local community to help benefit our animals - just ask!
