Throughout September, Monarch Butterflies will migrate through our region on their way to Mexico for the winter.

To celebrate this special event, join us for a multi-activity Monarch Discovery Day hosted by Joette Borzik, of the Potomac Valley Audubon Society

Joette will guide participants on the process of tagging and releasing monarchs. Live caterpillars and butterflies will be on display, and local nature organizations will be present with information booths. There will also be a children’s coloring table, and story time. Guided bird and butterfly walks around the property will be offered, and the BAAC adoption facility will be open for tours.

A $5 lunch special of pizza, chips, a cookie and a drink will be offered.

Meet at the Education Building at The Briggs Animal Adoption Center. All activities will be held in the gazebo, Education Building and surrounding gardens.

This event is free. For questions, contact development@nhes.org
