Andre is a shy little guy who wants to be held and hang out with a human most all of the time.

He came from a situation where there were many dogs. Most of the dogs were unsocialized since they did not get a lot of exposure to different situations and people.

Due to his background and his personality, he may not do well with children. We need more time to see how he adjusts to new situations to know for sure. However, he probably will do best in a fairly quiet home with lots of love given to him.

Anya is a young female who wiggles with her whole body.

She has big ears and likes to smile.

Anya came in with Quinton, but they do fine with other dogs and don't need to be adopted together.

We think Anya will be fine with children too but she hasn't been with us very long so we'll have to see how she does around kids.

Anya is still a pup and very sweet.

April was a stray who is slightly shy.

She hides a little from strangers she doesn't know, but begins to warm up once she gets to know you. April is a real sweetie.

This scruffy little guy is called "Bacardi"

He really likes everyone he meets and enjoys getting hugs and pets. Bacardi is affable and friendly with other dogs as well.

He has a wirey grey, white and black coat and could use a little grooming from time to time to keep up a cute look.

Come visit him! 

Baloo is a gentle little guy with raccoon eyes.

He's sweet and cute as a button and appears to like most other dogs and people.

What a sweetheart Betsy is! She is a fantastic, gentle dog who deserves a great home.

Betsy has been just wonderful here at the BAAC. As you can see, she wears a smile on her face when she's around people.

We were told that Betsy is good around other dogs and she was fine with some of the BAAC cats. When one swatted at her, she was actually a little afraid.

Betsy may also do well with children but so far she hasn't met any here. Betsy tends to gravitate to someone's lap and can curl her lip if another dog comes over, as if to be protective of her human. So she may not do well with children.

Betsy does appear to be housebroken and would probably get onto a schedule in a home pretty quickly.

Bixie is a sweet gal who is hoping to get back into a home soon.

She, unfortunately, had to be given up due to a severe illness and death in the family who had her.  We were told she lived with an older dog in the home, but no children.

She has had a tough time adjusting to the stress of a shelter environment with a lot of other dogs around so she is very quiet at first upon meeting someone.

We're told that she is not good around cats, but if given time, she may fit in well with another dog.

Bojangles is quite shy and not enthralled with the camera.

He is pretty quiet and will need someone willing to spend time with him, helping him to build a little confidence.

When he is with someone one-on-one, he'll crawl up into the person's lap and sit quietly.

Bojangles is gentle and takes his treats gently. Young children would be too much for him. He'll do best in a quiet home. However, if there is another dog in the home who is very comfortable there, that may help Bojangles to adjust a little more quickly.

Boscoe is a real sweetheart who needs a little time to adjust to his new surroundings and one he does, he'll be a real lover boy.

This scruffy little Terrier Mix goes by the name of Boz.

Boz is an active, happy and confident Terrier who enjoys playing.

Brie is an active, energetic pup.

When Brie arrived at the BAAC, we found that someone had shaved her coat down before we received her. We're unable to tell if the coat will be longer and feathery or whether it may be more dense. Either way, it appears to be primarily fawn color with areas of black.

Brie can be vocal when she meets other dogs for the first time. But being so young, she will need some basic obedience training to correct her of this.

Brie still needs to grow into her long legs but shouldn't be a very big dog.

Carly is an older girl who had to be returned to us when her adopter became ill.

She had been in a home for several years when the older lady in the home was no longer able to care for Carly. Since Carly is getting up in years, she is also not as tolerant of some strangers or active children.

She would do best in a quiet home where she can be a lap dog.

Carson is the brother of sisters Cassidy and Cody.

He has white on his paws, tail, face and chest and he's as cute as a button.

As with his sisters, Carson is a happy and friendly pup.

Cassidy is the sister of Carson and Cody.

She has a reddish blonde coat and is active and playful like her siblings.

This sweet little fella goes by the name of Chance.

He's initially shy but warms up pretty quickly.

As you can see, his little ears sometimes go in different directions.

Like the perfume, Chanel is alluring and sweet.

She is a gentle little girl who seems to like everyone, although she is initially a little shy.

Her coat is wirey and soft and as you can see, she has dark liner around her eyes.

Once Chewie gets to know you, he will be all over you, but initially he is a bit standoffish with strangers.

He isn't fond of people he doesn't know well holding him still or confining him for very long but he has improved a lot at the BAAC with people he gets to know and feel comfortable around. Initially, he was also very sensitive to his tail being touched but he has improved in that area as well since being here.

We do not feel Chewie would do well with young children. He may do best in a home with one-on-one or two people to share his life with.

Chloey is a darling youngster who has a little more growing to do.

She is a little bit shy and loves to be held.  In fact, it was difficult to get her photo on all 4 legs because everyone in the place was holding her.

Chloey is under a year of age and will still grow a little more.  She may get bigger than 25 lbs., so if you have a weight/size limit where you live, don't count on Chloey staying below that amount. She's a little girl with thin legs, but with another 8 months or so of growing and filling out, she may end up over 25 lbs.

As you can see, she has a brindle coat and is a very adorable girl.

As Clayton grows, his coat is becoming more wirey just like his Mother's.

He is the most wirey of all of Phoebe's pups.  And as with all of Phoebe's pups, he is a sweetheart.

Cleo is a sturdy-built gal who is very outgoing and sociable.

She loves attention and enjoys playing with dogs and cats as well.

As you can see in the photos above, Cleo's right ear stands straight up and her left ear is floppy which is a very unique look. She also has a white bib and short legs with white feet.

This little sweetheart is Cody and she's the sister of Carson and Cassidy.

Cody is tan/red and black. The black is like a saddle on her back. For some reason, whoever had these pups when they were born, decided to dock Cody's tail. We would have preferred to see her with her original tail wagging like her siblings, but she still has a small tail to wag. We don't know where these pups were born or who had them. We received them as rescues.

Cody and her siblings are all very sweet.

Crissy is initially a little shy but begins to bond quickly to people who give her some quiet time to get to know them .

She was an introverted stray brought to the BAAC, but as she has become more comfortable in her surroundings here, she is beginning to enjoy herself and play more.

The more we get to know Crissy, the more we see that she does not appear to be very fond of young children, due to their activity level. They seem to overwhelm her a bit too much. She also is a more dominant player with other dogs and tends to be pretty picky in choosing her doggy friends. At this time, we believe that Crissy would do best in a home as the only dog.

With her human companions, Crissy does likes to play ball and be a lap dog so if you would like to share those hobbies with her, she just might be a great match for you!

Crumpet is a girl who loves giving kisses.

She's very sweet and just wants to be with her people.

The name of this gentle little guy is Dabney.

Dabney is a real cutie. He's a bit nervous and intimidated in his new surroundings, however.

He wants to come up and get some attention, but sometimes his timidity gets the best of him. He does like other dogs. Dabney may do best in a home with another dog so he can relate to that dog and relax in his new surroundings.

With a little time and patience, Dabney should come around and become a wonderful part of the family. 

Dempsey is a short little guy with Dachshund markings and the body of a Corgi

Dixon and his brother, Mason, are two active little pups.

It was difficult to keep them still for their photo shoot because they want to be "Free", playing and running.

Of course, they'll both require basic training and socialization to allow them to be the best they can be.

These two pups do not need to be adopted together to the same home. 

Duke is a very cute fella who is initially quiet, but loves to give kisses to those he gets to know

Duke likes other dogs and most everyone he meets. He came from a bad situation and deserves to find a loving, permanent home of his very own.

Eddie spent much of his early life on a chain and is so happy to have attention paid to him.

Eddie has the funniest smile.  When someone first approaches him, his whole body wiggles, his lips curl up and he smiles broadly.  There are a lot of dogs who do this but Eddie is different in that he then continues to open his mouth wide to say hello.

Eddie is a great little dog and should be a wonderful companion for either individuals or families.

Emma is a small, scruffy Terrier mix who loves to give kisses.

She came to the BAAC with Emily. They are both very happy girls whose tails wag often.

Emma has been around cats and is fine with them.

As you can see, Emma requires a grooming every so often to look nice and she certainly needs one now!

Frosty is a very excitable little Terrier mix. He's eager to meet everyone.

Frosty would do best with an adopter who is laid back and doesn't get easily irritated when Frosty is so happy to see them arrive home that he piddles all over the floor...because that's what he does. 

Frosty submissively pees quite a bit.  This is a common issue with younger puppies up to 6 or 7 months of age until their muscles in that area get stronger and more under control.  However, if they were constantly scolded when they submissively urinated on the floor as a pup (or worse yet, were hit with a newspaper or hand) they can often carry this problem into adulthood. This is what has happened with Frosty, unfortunately. 

So if you can get past his problem by not making an issue of it when you first arrive home and he begins to submissively pee, but instead, immediately take him outside and praise him like crazy when he completes his deed, you will more than likely find that one day he will conquer this problem. Frosty needs confidence building to work through this issue.

He's a sweetheart, with a problem who just needs that "special" person or persons to be patient and allow him to be his happy little self.

Obviously, Frosty would not be a candidate for someone who rents and doesn't own their own home.

Gargamel makes friends pretty fast and is a cute little guy.

We believe Gargamel was kept outside much of his early life so he will require a little consistent work on his housebreaking skills.

Gargamel was adopted into a home but was brought back after 5 days. We were told that he did lift his leg in the home but we know from experience that 5 days is not enough time to establish a routine for housebreaking skills if a dog has never been on such a schedule.

Gargamel will also require a fenced yard in the home he is adopted into. We were told that he tried to escape numerous times. This is not unusual in the first few weeks in a new home because many dogs do not understand that they are part of a new family and that the new home is now their own territory.

So this time around, Gargamel should be adopted into a home with a sturdy, fenced yard, preferably with someone who is home during the day and can establish Gargamel on a consistent routine for housebreaking.

Gargamel is a sweet boy and if you are willing to give Gargamel the time and consistency he needs to become part of your family, please come see him!

Gator is a cheerful, cute kid with a beautiful white coat and bushy tail. Like Jag, he also is a wiggler when he gets excited.

Gator is not real fond of someone touching or lightly tugging on his ears or tail. When touched, he may whine or mouth the person doing so. Perhaps he was formerly around people who did not handle those areas on him gently, so he may take more time and patience to learn to overcome this sensitivity.

As such, we feel Gator is quite sweet, but would probably do best if around children over 6 or 7

Gibbs is a bit timid and enjoys his quiet time on laps.

He recently visited a nursing home with some of our other BAAC dogs and Gibbs got to do what he does best, which is to sit in laps!

Gibbs is sensitve to loud noises and drops to the floor quickly, sometimes even submissively urinating. Therefore, he needs an easy-going, low-key environment where he won't be punished when he responds this way. Instead, he needs to be given positive praise to build his confidence every time he does something good.

As you might guess from his description, Gibbs would not do well in a active, busy household with young children.

While both girls in the photo to the right are adorable, Grace is the only one up for adoption!

Gracie had to be shaved down due to a very matted coat so she looks a little bare right now.

Gracie is very sweet and slightly shy initially. After a few minutes in the yard with her, however, she would run up to us as if to play, and then just as quickly, run past us!

Once Gracie becomes comfortable around you (which doesn't take too long) she will show you all the tricks she has learned such as sit, down, speak and shaking paws.

She has the colors and markings of an Airedale Terrier so she may have some Airedale in her.

Gracie appears to be a dog that once she bonds to a person, she'll become their lifelong friend.

Gyro is this cute little Terrier's name.

Gyro is a small, happy fella. He seems to like most other dogs and most all people. While he was temporarily in a home (about a week), Gyro did like to chase the cats, but he may be able to be corrected of that issue.

Gyro really enjoys being cuddled too!

Hannah is still a happy and playful puppy!

She likes to play with people, toys and other dogs.

She rooms with another dog at the BAAC and gets along well with her roommate. We've shown her recently with children, and Hannah appears to love kids!

Hopper is a quiet and gentle guy.

He likes other dogs and loves to be held by his human companions.

Hopper does have a disability. As you can see in his photos above, his right leg is bent inward. Our veterinarian believes that it was probably a birth defect. Hopper has learned to adapt to his leg being this way and it doesn't bother him if he wants to play or run around. The veterinarian said that at this point in his life, no operation would help him because the leg would not heal correctly and could cause him a lot of pain.

Howie is a charming cutie!

He is a happy guy who wags his tail and holds it high.

His photos may not show it, but Hubble is a happy, friendly little boy.

He is very sweet and loveable and enjoys playing with doggy toys and other pups.

Hubble had never learned about walking on a leash so he would just lay down when first attached to one. He is learning to adjust to this now but he will improve with a little more encouragement.If you want a great dog to grow up with your family, come see Hubble.

Ivy is a gentle girl who was adopted and returned to the BAAC due to divorce.

She's a wonderful dog and wants to find a permanent, loving home for the rest of her life.

This cute little fellow would make a great companion.

Katie is a very happy, goofy Terrier mix.

She's so happy to meet people that she jumps up and runs in circles.

Katie appears to be good with children and other dogs.  Since she is an active girl, she'll need plenty of exercise and activity to keep her busy and not bored.

Ladybug is very pretty and a perfect medium-sized dog.

She does well with other dogs and is friendly with people she meets.

Leo is an adorably cute Terrier boy.

As with so many other rescued little dogs we receive, he is quite shy when meeting strangers and can spook very easily.

Once he is accustomed to you however, Leo begins to relax and allow himself the pleasure of being petted. We know he will come around in his own due time.

Leo is a cutie who is one of our senior fellas.

He had been in a home for a while but was returned due to his allergies. If he is kept on a non-allergic type of food, his coat improves tremendously and he feels much better so it is important to keep him on the correct food.

Leo would love a nice home with loving adults. If you'd like to come to the BAAC and get to know Leo, he's ready to get to know you.

London enjoys his time outside and likes to walk his people.

He also likes other dogs and cats. These photos were taken when London was very busy running and playing in the yard.

In the photo on the right, he is meeting the dog Ursula.  He was curious about the swimming pool but didn't decide to get in and enjoy it.

As you can see, London has a curly tail with black and white running through it and two adorable black eye patches.

When first arriving at the BAAC, London had a particular issue with lifting his leg and marking some areas (and sometimes even people he liked.)

But London improved dramatically after he was neutered.

London enjoys squeaky stuffy toys, taking long walks and treats! In fact, his favorite room in the house has to be the kitchen.

Lucky is an engaging fellow who exudes friendliness.

He has quite a bit of energy and needs a little work on not jumping up on people because he wants to be close to them.

We think Lucky would do wonderfully with an active individual or couple who would take him with them.

Luke is initially shy with people, but he's very sweet.

We believe that Luke and Dabney are related, as well as a few of the other dogs we received from a rescue group.  We'll be glad to provide any adopters with what information we know about these dogs.  They are all very sweet and some of the dogs are more reserved than others.

Luke takes a little while to warm up but is gentle and a good boy around his humans.

We found out recently that Luke is dominant with other dogs and wants to put them in their place. For that reason, Luke may be best as an only dog.

Luke was not in a home with children and it's best that he not go to a home with young children due to the fact that he may want to dominate them and show them he's in charge.

Luke should do well as the only dog in a home with adults. He will just need a little time to become comfortable with his surroundings and adopters, and he'll show them what a loving dog he can be.

Maddox is another sweetheart.

He and Valentino came in together and they appear to be siblings.

Maddox has two floppy ears, but in the one photo above, the wind blew pretty hard and up went one ear.

Maddox has more of a wirey coat than Valentino, both both dogs are very much alike in temperment.  While they have been at the BAAC, they've both been sweet, easy-going and gentle.

We're trying to put a smile on this little girl's face.

Makala came from the same place as Andre. There were too many dogs and not enough attention.

She's very shy as you can see in the photos. Once she bonds to someone, she just wants to be held when in a place she doesn't know.

These photos were taken when she first arrived at the BAAC and she is starting to feel comfortable with the staff.

We do think that Makala would do best in a quiet home with no children or a lot of activity. She would do best with another dog that she can play with and feel part of a family with.

Mason is Dixon's brother and both are very playful pups..

Megan is a Terrier mix with lots of personality!

Megan and Morgan are sisters. They are very sweet and we were told they are good with other dogs, cats and children. We have observed that Megan and Morgan do not get along with each other, however!

When both girls were originally received at the BAAC, they had been shaved down because they had very matted coats. Their normal coats are curly and the girls look quite a bit like Lakeland Terriers.

Megan was pretty lively when getting her photos taken as you can see above. She appears to be slightly more animated and more dominant over her sister, Morgan.

Meka is a unique looking dog with one brown and one blue eye. She's an outgoing Terrier mix who enjoys everyone's company!

Unfortunately, Meka was adopted and returned to the BAAC in the past due to the adopter developing allergies and Meka's activity level.

Meka has made many friends and appears to love kids. We think she would make a great companion for most any active home.

Meka is an energetic, happy dog. When she was younger, she would get bored easily and get into things in the home when left alone. However, as she has matured, she has calmed down and mellowed a bit. She will still enjoy going places and playing with her human companions though!

If you are someone who likes to be on the go with your dog, walking and/or jogging, Meka would be a good dog for you. She may also be a wonderful candidate for agility trials if you are so inclined!

Merry Lou is such a little sweetheart.

She wants to be held and will stand on her hind legs at your side asking to be picked up.

She's a small girl with big brown eyes and a very loving heart.

Miley is an adorable sweetheart.

You can see in her photo above how happy she looks.

Although initially a little shy with her new surroundings, Miley becomes very attentive once she warms up.

She also really likes kitty cats!

This cute, wirey-coated Terrier mix is named "Molly".

She's still a youngster and loves to run around the yard and play. We think she will do well with just about any family

Mopsy is still just a pup who looks like a teddy bear.

She is happy, slightly shy and very, very sweet. She likes to roll over when you come up to her and get rubs (which also shows how submissive she is.)

Mopsy had to be shaved down because she hadn't been groomed and her coat was very matted and dirty.  It is just growing back now but she will need an adopter who will keep her groomed on a regular basis to keep her coat as soft and pretty as it is now.

Mopsy can also use some basic house training and obedience training to assist her in gaining some confidence.

She's a cutie that most people can't resist. But Mopsy needs to find just the right match of love and proper care, so her adopter(s) should figure in the cost of grooming into the annual cost to care for Mopsy.

Morgan is a real sweetie, just like her sister, Megan.

When both girls were originally received at the BAAC, they were shaved down because they had very matted coats. Their normal coats are curly and the girls look quite a bit like Lakeland Terriers.

We were told both dogs were good with other dogs, cats and children. One thing we know for sure though is that they are not good with each other.

The dogs were also quite skinny when they arrived and it could be that the two sisters had to compete for food where they originally lived which might explain their reactions to each other.

This little sweetie is named Muffin.

She's a gentle and quiet little girl. Muffin basically "goes with the flow".

Muffin does have an allergy to certain foods which affects her coat and her stomach. We currently have her on a special dry dog food that works well with her sensitive stomach. Her coat has filled in beautifully and looks great.

Muffin's eyes need to have an ointment put in them daily to keep from having a "dry eye" and becoming infected.

Her monthly medication should run in the area of $25 extra per month. Her special food is more expensive than regular food but since she is small, that amount shouldn't be too costly. If her adopter agrees to providing her with the proper food she needs and medications as she needs it, then she should do wonderfully.

Muffin is very lovey and just wants to be by her human's side. She's loyal and giving and anyone who decides they can provide for her special needs, will be rewarded many times over with Muffin's love.

He's a happy, funny little guy who also happens to be a real sweetheart. Murphy is outgoing and enjoys meeting people of all ages.

Come see and meet Murphy soon if he is your type of pup because we anticipate he will be quite popular!

Noah is a timid dog who needs a fairly quiet environment.

He does come up to you slowly and will warm up after a little while. Noah likes other dogs and appears to be fine with cats.

He would not do well in a home with active, young children.

It was quite difficult to get Noah to look at the camera but we surprised him once or twice before he looked away!

Paige is another of Phoebe's female pups.

She's a friendly girl.  She's shown here behind the receptionist's desk greeting visitors coming into the BAAC.

When Penelope arrived at the BAAC, no one knew she was close to giving birth to puppies.

We did have our suspicions though and after an examination, our vet confirmed them.  She was very close to giving birth but had been hiding it well.  Within a week, Penelope delivered 5 beautiful little puppies.

We didn't post the puppies on the website because we thought they would get adopted out very fast from visitors coming into the BAAC. The pups just came out of isolation and it looks like most of them are spoken for.  However, in the event their adoptions don't go through, you are welcome to contact us about them via the website or calling the BAAC.

Penelope is a very sweet girl and was a wonderful Mother. The pups were very well fed by their Mom and now it's her turn to find a loving, permanent home!

Penny is an outgoing little pixie who loves children and adults.

Penny was originally a stray who has done really well around young children and is always ready to play.

She does, however, need consistency in her housebreaking skills so it would be best to go with someone who can be home with her so that she does not have to be crated for more than 4 hours at a time.

Pepper is a darling little gal who likes to curl up on laps.

She's not a youngster, but being a little dog with a longer life-span, our hope is that she'll spend many more years of her life giving and receiving love in her permanent home.

And that's what she's looking for.  She deserves wonderful adopters who will give her lots of love and kindness for the rest of her life.

When shy Phoebe arrived at the BAAC, we found out that she was due to deliver puppies, which is just what she did two weeks later.

She had darling, sweet pups who haven't all been adopted yet.  They all have been blessed with Phoebe's personality and temperament.

Phoebe was left outside on a chain for much of her early life.  She was not socialized very well and as a result, she has had the problem of submissive urination when people first come up to her.  She has improved greatly since being at the BAAC but still requires gentle patience to help build her confidence. 

She's not green, but her name is Pickles!

This little girl is still a pup.  She's adorable, sweet and was being very good for her photo shoot while a big cat was rubbing up against her.

Pickles is good around other dogs as well and we think she should do well with children too.

This shy but very sweet Terrier mix is named Pip.

He has a soft, wirey coat and as you can see he's got large brown eyes.

Pip didn't receive a lot of socialization as a puppy so he is a little shy. But once Pip gets to know you, he does seek your attention.

Pip also likes most other dogs and enjoys doggy toys too.

Pipin has the bouncing ability of a superball!

It was hard to get her to sit still very long for her photos because she loves to run, jump and play.  She will come up to you for loving kisses inbetween these spurts of energy so you need to be prepared for her jump.

Since Pipin is such a bundle of energy, she may be a great dog for agility training if you have the inclination to train her.

Pipin is a very loving dog and just wants to please.

Prue is one of the little girls from Phoebe's litter.

Quinton is a happy little boy who likes to play.

He came in with Anya who is also up for adoption.

They are both great dogs and do fine separately so they can get adopted out to different homes.

Quinton is waiting for his forever home with loving human companions.

Roxanne has been here for quite a while now and is still looking for her permanent home.

During the time she has been at the BAAC, Roxanne has completed her basic obedience commands and has been awarded her certificate of completion.

This girl loves her squeaky toys and can even be a little possessive of them sometimes. Roxanne should be an only dog in a home as she is not good around other dogs. She would probably do best in a home without a lot of young, active children as well.

Roxanne came to us with her tail already docked so she doesn't have too big of a tail to wag, but she would be very happy to wag it for that perfect human companion(s) which she can share the rest of her life with.

Both Ryan and Davey are sweet boys who came from the same place.

Both of these little fellows want to get to know people but are initially a little hesitant to approach. Once they do, they like to be held and spoken to.

Loud noises and movements scare Ryan and Davey, so at this time, we do not think they will do well around young children. We are looking forward to finding them loving, permanent homes they deserve.

Sanjia is a happy boy with loads of energy!

He jumps, he runs, he plays and he will need some playtime to wear him out everyday.

Sanjia appears to like most other dogs and people. We're not sure about cats yet.

But he's a cute kid and is looking for his permanent, loving home who will give him lots of exercise.

Sebastian is a cute, initially shy little guy.

He is a little nervous around fast movements but seems to warm up fairly quickly.

Once Sebastian begins to feel comfortable around a person, he will come over to get attention. He is a sweet boy. He also likes other dogs.

Sherman is a real cuddle-bug who will probably get a home pretty fast!

He is very affable and just loves everyone. If you have always been attracted to little Benji dogs, Sherman is a perfect one!

Shorty and his Mom, Ladybug, arrived at the BAAC together and they are cute as can be!

Both dogs are still young and enjoy playing together or with others. When Shorty arrived, it was apparent that his left ear had been previously injured.

We were told that he was kept on a chain and that two dogs running loose attacked him, biting his ear pretty badly.

In the time he has been with us, his ear has healed nicely and he doesn't seem to be affected negatively by his experience. He is outgoing, friendly and just plain likes to have fun!

Simba is a small, petite Terrier mix.

Simba is quite cute as you can see. He also has a very long tail!

He's Cool...He's Cute...He's "Smurphy!"

He's a little benji-type guy who is quite friendly and enjoys attention.

Smurphy was with an elderly person who kept him on a chain. He is a little leary around fast body language directed at him. When he was tested for his touch sensitivity by our obedience trainer, he was fine with everything except when his tail was touched. With that, he turned to grab her hand to see if she would let go of his tail. This may be an indication that Smurphy might be a little too sensitive around young, active children.

Smurphy seems to have a smile on his face and is generally a happy kind of guy. In order to keep his coat from getting too matted, he will need his adopter(s) to brush him regularly and give him a good grooming from time to time.

She's a darling girl with an ear that flies out to the side. Her name is "Spiffy".

Spiffy likes to lean up against you as you can see in her photos above.

Even though we have her listed as a Terrier, she may have a little Sheltie mixed in there as well. Spiffy is submissive and smiles at you while wagging her tail and wiggling her body.

She's good with other dogs and is really a nice girl who should do well in most any family.

Sugar Pie Honey Bunch is a real "Temptation". (a little play on words for those baby-boomers out there)

Sugar is now about 7 years of age, but she is still full of fun and energetic activity!

She is a dog who bonds completely to her human companion(s). She wants to be forever by their side and will from time-to-time become protective of them if she thinks it is necessary.

Sugar will do best in a home that has no young (under 8 yrs of age) children visiting or living there so she does not feel the challenge to watch over her loved ones.

Syler is another one of Phoebe's boys.

He is more smooth-coated and also a sweetheart.

She's cute as a button and her name is Taffy!

Taffy was a bit neglected and did not receive much attention before she came to the BAAC. She was initially nervous to meet new people but is beginning to settle in nicely as she gains more confidence every day.

She is a petite little girl who is quite inquisitive.

This young, wirey-coated little Terrier mix is named "Tavi".

Tavi had given birth to three puppies and was a wonderful mother.

She is slightly shy but very cuddley.  When you approach her, she will often submissively roll over and show you her tummy.

Tavi is a darling little girl who should make a wonderful companion.

Taz reminded us of a blonde Tasmanian Devil (but he's definitely much sweeter than the real thing.)

He is a gentle little guy and as you can see, he's cute as cute can be.

One thing about Taz is that he can be slightly afraid around quick movements.  He has even yelped out of fear when someone moves quickly around him so it's possible he wasn't treated very kindly when he was younger.

For this reason, Taz may not do well with young children if he is too easily startled.  The best way to test this is to do several visits with him.  Over time, he should adjust to most households if they give him the time he needs to allow him to build confidence and feel that he can trust that he won't be hurt.

Tiara is an all-around happy dog who needs some extra time to adjust to her new surroundings.

She's a cute little one, who likes other dogs. We're not sure about cats, however.

She tends to favor females a little more than males but as long as you don't have a busy home with lots of visitors and children, she should do well. She's a great little dog. Come see her!

Toby is a happy fella who was practically "hairless" when he arrived at the BAAC.

When he first arrived, this poor boy only had sparse areas with hair on him. His legs, chest, back and tail had little to no hair on them and his skin was red and irritated. He was extremely sad looking and he had no energy.

We did numerous tests on Toby to try and find the cause of his hairloss and it was determined that he had a "hypo" or "under active" thyroid.

We gave Toby oatmeal baths and started him on medication for his thyroid. Months later, he has a beautiful, soft coat and is a very happy guy. It makes our hearts so full to see him this happy!

Toby enjoys people and has a smile for almost everyone he meets. His adopter(s) will need to keep Toby on thyroid medication for the rest of his life.

Once Trixie gets to know you, she loves to snuggle.

Trixie is a real sweetie. She likes most other dogs and actually lived in a house with a cat previously.

Trixie is also just a youngster so she likes to have attention and would enjoy walks and playtime.

Although initially shy, once Trixie is comfortable with you, get ready for the snuggling to begin!

Whitley is another little munchkin at the BAAC.

We have her as a Terrier mix but she clearly has something else mixed in. She doesn't have much of a tail and appears that she may even be part Schipperke.

Whatever her makeup, Whitley is a doll.  She is currently living with a playmate so we know she does well with smaller dogs. She pretty much ignored a cat when it was around.

We're not sure how she will do with children yet, but we're sure children will love her.  Because Whitley is so tiny, we're not comfortable adopting her around young active children at this point.

This adorable little pup is named Widget.

He's a wirey-haired little Terrier mix and has lots of play and fun in him to last and last!

Winnie is a medium Terrier mix who is fairly friendly but can get intimidated by strangers sometimes.

We do not think Winnie would be appropriate to be around fast moving children or adults who will come up to her very fast. She does get vocal when scared.

Here's Zack in his latest photo.

Zack has wirey hair and appears to have a little Chow and Schnauzer in him. He is a very sweet dog who is also quite sensitive.

He gets pretty nervous when he has to have a grooming done on his coat. We let his coat grow a little longer for the winter and you can see his red highlights in these photos above.

Zack has been taken to a local nursing home for visits and he has done wonderfully with the residents. However, Zack can be protective or territorial of his human companion(s) around strangers in his own home.
