Thompson was one of six dogs we received from a terrible hoarding situation over a year ago.
Thompson and his fellow Chihuahua mixes were living in a house with over 20 other dogs, unable to go outside.
We've had these dogs for over a year because it has taken that long to work with them to try to get them more socialized. They were petrified of people for the longest time, but with lots of love and care, they are beginning to thrive and enjoy the attention!
Thompson has come a long way, although he has a bit more to go. He needs someone who will be patient and loving, not move too fast, and give him the time he needs to come around.
Thompson's home should have a secure fence so that he doesn't escape easily when he is frightened by something in the neighborhood. It may take as long as it has taken with us to allow him to feel secure in his new home. He should bond to his adopters before that time, however.
It would also help him if the adopters have another dog in the home that likes Thompson so that he can watch and follow the other dog's lead and its actions around the home.
A Homeless Hearts' video of Thompson will be posted on our Briggs facebook page so please check it out. You can see how happy he is playing in the yard and rolling in the grass!
