Name: Franklin
Breed: Manchester Terrier
DOB: 06/01/2005
Gender: Male
Weight: 20
Information:

Franklin is the name of this little guy and he has a special need.

He's an active dog who seeks your attention once he's past the initial introductory period.

We thought Franklin was having a problem with focusing on objects close to him so we had our veterinarian check him out. Franklin was sent to a veterinary specialist for his eyes and he was diagnosed with Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA), which causes diminished visual acuity and over time (months to years), results in blindness.

PRA in dogs is a condition that causes a progressive decrease in the eyes' ability to process light. Vision tends to become more difficult at night and then over time causes issues during the day. Over years, the end result of the disease is blindness.

Right now, Franklin can see fairly well but has trouble focusing on small objects such as treats.

The veterinarian recommends that Franklin finds a home as soon as possible so that he can become familiar with the furniture and other objects in the home in order to get around well as his disease progresses.

Franklin is a very sweet guy and he's looking for comfort in a friend's arms.
