Name: Dayton
Breed: Chihuahua Mix
DOB: 12/01/2007
Gender: Male
Weight: 15
Information:

Dayton is a sweetheart who was not treated kindly in his previous home and is quite easily frightened.

However, you wouldn't think he was shy if you walk past his den at the BAAC. He compensates with his shyness now by barking at everyone who goes by. Dayton doesn't do this when he is walked up front on a leash though.

We believe Dayton would do best with a single individual or couple who do not have a lot of people and children coming into their home.

Dayton basically needs someone who can pet him (which he likes) and talk to him on a one-on-one basis to help him build his confidence.

We were told that Dayton (who came from the same place as Dexter and Devin) was kicked at by a man who was around his home. Dayton shakes and does not do well with men at this point.

As mentioned above, Dayton is also not the dog for a home with children as he is too easily frightened and can suddenly bolt.

He will require some time and patience by his new adopter(s) but if you are willing to make a commitment to him, we believe you'll see a much more confident little guy after several months in your home.

Living with another dog in the home that he likes, should help Dayton also. Another dog can show the shy, insecure dog that it's OK to go up to the people in the home and have fun.

Dayton is a special boy who will learn to shine with special caretakers teaching him that life is good.
